Iconic Photos Give A Glimpse Of What Modern South Korea Used To Be

Hard to believe but above is an actual picture of now-famous heart of GangNam, Apgujeong-dong, from 1978. The capture of this almost-allegorical image is no other than Korea's premier documentary photojournalist, Min-jo Jeon, who served long stints at both Hankook and Dong-A Daily.

Jeon's exhibition전민조entitled "Pictures Tell the Story" will be open to the public for two months beginning on Nov. 26 at the National History Museum in Jongno, Seoul.

Below are some of his iconic photographs you will be able to view at Jeon's show. They include images of saxophone playing composer Ok-yoon Gil, the wake for Doosan Corporation founder, the former first-lady and current Korean president's mother Young-soo Yuk's charity effort, and of course Apgujeong-dong of 1978. It's only a peek but enjoy!
