바그다드서 차량폭탄 공격에 '최소' 17명 사망하다

30일(현지시간) 이라크 수도 바그다드 남동부 나흐라완 지역에서 자동차 자살폭탄 공격으로 최소 17명이 숨지고 35명이 다쳤다.

경찰은 시아파 7대 이맘인 무사 카딤을 기리기 위해 바그다드 카디미야 성지로 도보 이동하던 시아파 순례자들을 겨냥한 폭탄 테러로 보고 있다.

앞으로 며칠 동안 이라크 전역에서 온 수천 명의 시아파 순례자들이 이 성지에 맨발로 올라갈 것으로 예상된다.

아직 범행을 자처하는 세력은 나오지 않았지만, 수니파 극단주의 무장단체 '이슬람국가'(IS)가 이 지역에서 시아파를 대상으로 비슷한 공격을 여러 번 저지른 적이 있다는 점에서 이번에도 IS의 범행일 가능성이 커보인다.

그러나 이라크 정부 내에서는 이날 공격이 시아파 순례자가 아니라 나흐라완의 가축시장을 노린 것이라는 엇갈린 언급도 나오고 있다.
