남한의 서핑 스팟은 강원도 양양, 부산 송정, 제주 중문 등이다. 그런데 (당연한 얘기지만) 북한에도 서핑 스팟이 있다.

최근 북한은 동해와 맞닿은 함경남도 마전해수욕장에서 서핑을 즐길 수 있는 관광상품을 개발했다.(여행사 홈페이지)

마전의 파도는 양양의 파도와 얼마나 다른지 사진으로 직접 살펴보자.

'마전 서핑 스쿨(Majon Surfing School)'의 강사는 국제서핑협회(ISA) 코스 프리젠터인 니콜라 차넬라(Nicolla Zanella)다. 현 중국 서핑 대표팀 감독인 그는 중국의 서핑 스팟 지도를 만들었다.

혹시 마전 서핑 스쿨이 인기를 끈다면, 북한 서핑 스팟 지도가 만들어질지도 모를 일이다.

On our first day, there were only a couple of people in the water. After our first lesson, more and more people started to pop up on the beach. We are happy to announce that the Majon Surf School is now open! After a week of training and instruction with the local crew at the Majon Hotel, we have now equipped our school with gear and now the locals have a place to call a surf home. We'll return for more instruction and gear, and will announce future trips for surfers all around the world.
