신종 코로나바이러스 감염증 발원지인 중국 우한의 응급 병원이 주목받고 있다.
중국 정부는 우한 내 발열 환자가 1만명을 넘어서면서 병실이 모자라자, 지난 23일부터 응급 병원 건설에 들어갔다.
이 병원은 놀랍게도 착공한 지 약 10일 만에 완공 단계에 접어들었다. 중국 국영방송 CGTN은 바닥 콘크리트 작업이 95% 완료되었다고 보도했다.
비결은 조립식 건축 방식에 있다. 미국 QUARTZ는 공장에서 제작된 방을 현장에서 조립함으로써 신속한 병원 건립이 가능하다고 분석했다. 그러나 ”안전한 반면 지속가능하지는 않다”고 덧붙였다.
영국 BBC에 따르면 중국은 사스가 확산하던 지난 2003년 같은 방식으로 응급 병원을 세운 경험이 있다.
현재 건설 중인 응급 병원은 우한 서쪽 차이뎬 지구 2만 5000㎡ 부지에 마련되며 병상 1000개를 갖추게 된다. 여기엔 1~2층 높이의 조립식 블록 20여개가 투입된다. 또 레이선산 병원 인근에는 병상 1300개 규모의 격리 병동이 들어서게 된다.
CGTN은 이 놀라운 응급 병원 건설 과정을 실시간으로 중계하고 있다. 전날(30일) 업로드 된 중계 영상은 30만회 이상 조회수를 기록했다.
