'강팀킬러' 여자 컬링, 스웨덴에 첫 패 안기며 '공동 1위 등극'

‘강팀킬러’ 여자 컬링 대표팀이 승승장구하던 스웨덴에 첫 패배를 안겼다.

김은정 스킵(주장)을 필두로 김경애(서드), 김선영(세컨드), 김영미(리드), 김초희(후보)로 구성된 여자 컬링은 19일 오후 강릉컬링센터에서 열린 2018 평창 동계 올림픽 컬링 여자 4인조 예선 6차전서 스웨덴을 7-6으로 꺾었다. 

이로써 5승 1패를 기록한 세계 랭킹 8위 한국은 스웨덴과 공동 1위가 돼 상위 4개팀이 펼치는 플레이오프 진출을 눈앞에 두게 됐다.

올림픽 컬링 여자부는 총 10팀이 참가해 예선에서 한 번씩 맞붙는 라운드 로빈을 거쳐 상위 4개팀이 플레이오프에 진출한다. 

한국은 일본(6위)에 패했지만 세계 1위 캐나다를 비롯해 스위스(2위), 영국(4위), 중국(10위), 스웨덴(5위)을 상대로 승수를 챙겨 ‘강팀킬러’다운 면모를 과시했다.

특히 이날 승리는 승승장구하던 스웨덴을 상대로 거뒀다는 점에서 의미가 크다. 스웨덴은 덴마크, 캐나다, OAR, 스위스, 영국을 차례로 꺾으며 무패행진을 펼치고 있었다.

한국은 1엔드를 내주며 이날 경기를 시작했다. 그러나 한국은 2엔드와 4엔드에서 각각 1점과 2점을 올리면서 3-1로 역전에 성공했다.  

5엔드에서 1실점했지만 6엔드에서 2득점, 5-2로 앞선 한국은 7엔드에서 다시 실점했다. 하지만 8엔드에서 2득점하며 승기를 잡았다. 7-3으로 앞선 한국은 9엔드에서 2실점을 했지만 10엔드를 1실점으로 막아냈다. 

한국 여자 컬링 대표팀은 오는 20일 오후 2시 5분 같은 장소에서 미국(7위)과의 경기에서 6승을 노린다.
