‘박물관 101 Museum 101’이란 이름은 조지 오웰의 ‘1984’에 등장하는 ‘101호실’에서 딴 것이라고 이번 이벤트를 연 Culture Themes 사이트에서는 밝히고 있다.
101호실은 사람들이 두려워하거나 좋아하지 않는 것들이 있는 방이다. Culture Themes에서는 101호실은 사실 고문실에 가깝지만, ‘박물관 101’을 조직한 사람들은 그런 시각은 피했다.
