말레이시아에서 피살된 김정남의 둘째 부인 이혜경씨가 중국 정부에 김정남의 시신을 인도받을 수 있도록 도와달라고 요청한 것으로 알려졌다.
16일(현지시간) 말레이시아 현지 언론인 프리말레이시아투데이(FMT)는 정부 관계자를 인용, 이씨가 말레이시아 주재 중국 대사관에 이같은 요청을 했다고 보도했다.
앞서 아흐마드 자히드 하미디 말레이시아 부총리는 북한이 김정남 시신 인도를 요청한 사실을 인정하면서, 모든 조사가 끝난 뒤 시신을 북한 대사관을 통해 친족에게 인도하겠다고 밝혔다.
다만 친족이 누구인지는 알려지지 않은 상태다. 김정남의 첫째 부인 신정희는 중국 베이징(北京)에, 둘째 부인 이씨와 한솔·솔희 남매는 마카오에 머물고 있었던 것으로 알려졌다.
현재 김정남의 시신은 쿠알라룸푸르 병원(HKL)에 안치돼 있으며, 병원 주변엔 현지 경찰들이 삼엄한 경계를 펼치고 있다.
