[화보] 스페인에서 '카탈루냐 독립 반대' 대규모 시위가 열렸다

지난 1일 실시된 스페인 카탈루냐 분리독립 주민투표 이후, 카탈루냐의 중심도시 바르셀로나에서 '독립 반대' 시위가 대규모로 열렸다.

8일(현지시간) AFP통신에 따르면, 이날에도 카탈루냐 분리독립을 반대하는 시위대 수십만 명이 바르셀로나 중심 거리를 가득 채웠다.

경찰 추산 35만명, 주최측 추산 95만명에 달하는 집회 참석자들은 스페인 국기와 카탈루냐 깃발을 함께 흔들며 "스페인 만세! 카탈루냐 만세!"를 외쳤다.

이들은 자신들을 "침묵하는 다수"라 칭하며 카탈루냐 지도부가 분리독립을 주장하면서 최악의 정치적 위기를 초래했다고 비난했다.

시위에 참가한 한 남성은 "우리는 너무나 오랫동안 침묵했다. 목소리 큰 사람이 논쟁에서 이기는 것 같다. 그래서 우리는 독립을 원하지 않는다는 점을 큰 소리로 분명하게 말해야 한다"고 밝혔다.

중앙정부와 자치정부간 대화를 해야 한다는 주장이 주를 이뤘고, 카를레스 푸지데몬 자치정부 수반을 감옥에 보내야 한다는 목소리도 나왔다.

노벨문학상 수상자인 마리오 바르가스 요사도 이자리에 참석했다. 그는 "광신주의와 인종주의에 의한 열정은 파괴적이고 사나워진다"며 "역사상 가장 큰 타격을 입힌 최악의 경우는 민족주의에 대한 열정"이라고 목소리를 높였다.

마리아노 라호이 스페인 총리가 지난 7일 처음으로 카탈루냐의 자치권을 박탈할 수 있다고 밝힌 상황에서 카탈루냐 지도부는 아직 별다른 답변을 내놓지 않고 있다.

푸지데몬 수반은 10일 저녁 카탈루냐 의회에서 연설을 할 계획인데, 이 자리에서 그는 예고했던 대로 공식 독립 선언을 할 가능성이 높다.

하지만 라호이 총리가 카탈루냐 지도부에 "아직 시간이 있다"며 대화 의지를 시사했기 때문에 막판 물밑 협상을 통해 최악의 상황은 피할 것이란 전망도 나오고 있다.
