엘리자베스 2세 영국 여왕의 90세 생일 공식 축하행사가 11일(현지시간) 열렸다.

BBC방송 등 영국 언론에 따르면 여왕은 이날 부군 필립공과 함께 지붕이 없는 4륜마차에 탄 채 근위병 1천600여 명과 말 300마리가 참여한 공식 축하퍼레이드인 '군기분열식'을 지켜봤다.

코트와 모자를 눈에 띄게 밝은 초록색으로 맞춰 입은 여왕은 퍼레이드 이후 가족과 함께 버킹엄궁 발코니에 올라 궁 앞에 모인 수천 명 인파로부터 축하를 받았다.

찰스 왕세자와 윌리엄 왕세손, 여왕의 딸인 앤 공주 등 여왕과 함께 발코니에 오른 왕실 가족 가운데 축하 인파의 이목을 집중시킨 이는 윌리엄 왕세손 부부의 둘째인 샬럿 공주였다.

샬럿 공주는 이 행사에서 버킹엄궁 발코니에 처음으로 모습을 드러냈다.

지난달 첫돌을 맞은 샬럿 공주는 연분홍색 원피스를 입은 채 엄마인 케이트 미들턴 왕세손빈의 품에 안겨 오빠인 조지 왕자와 함께 손을 흔들었고, 시민들은 공주의 '발코니 데뷔'에 열렬하게 환호했다고 언론들은 전했다.

여왕의 실제 생일은 4월 21일이지만 왕실 전통에 따라 공식 생일축하 행사는 날씨가 더 따뜻한 6월에 거행됐다.

엘리자베스 2세 여왕의 공식 생일축하 행사인 군기분열식은 여왕이 즉위한 1952년 이후 철도파업이 일어난 1955년을 제외하고 매년 열렸다.

군기분열식 외에도 여왕의 생일을 축하하는 수상퍼레이드가 이날 런던 템스강에서 펼쳐졌다.
